SPORTS INJURIES
All athletes run the risk of injuring themselves. Premier Comprehensive Physical Therapy can be the key to putting your body back where it needs to be in order to keep playing. Some of the most common injuries we see are:
Sprained Ankles
Whenever you are involved in running or jumping, you can risk the risk of a sprained ankle. The ankle's ligaments get stretched too far, and can result in tearing. A sprained ankle can be very painful and limiting for someone with an active lifestyle. Rehab for a sprained ankle involves reduction of inflammation, restoration of range of motion, strengthening of muscles tendons and ligaments to allow for normal balance and ambulation.
Tennis / Golfer's Elbow
It is common for those who play the golf, baseball or tennis to eventually have elbow pain. Tennis elbow is the inflammation of the forearm muscles that can cause pain and limit your motion. Physical therapy can help those who suffer from this condition, learn how to properly strengthen the area with exercises and stretching so that you can resume enjoying the sport you love.
Strained muscles
Pulling a muscle isn’t limited to sports, but it is a frequent injury experienced by athletes. Muscle fibers tear during increased physical activity; this is often caused by an athlete not performing the appropriate warm-up before participating in their sport. Treating the immediate pain of a pulled muscle is easy enough- medicine and ice- but physical therapy can help ensure that your injury heals properly so that you do not re-injure the area.
Achilles tendonitis
Tendonitis can be especially painful and can hinder an athlete’s participation in their sport without proper treatment. There are several exercises that your physical therapist can recommend in order to eliminate the symptoms of tendonitis, and they are essential. Because the Achilles tendon is the largest tendon in your body, maintaining its health and functionality is essential.
