BACK AND NECK PAIN

How common is back and neck pain?

According to recent studies, about 80 percent of the population will experience back pain or neck pain in their lifetimes. That data does not include minor incidents like the occasional twinge, but instead the serious sprains, strains, spasms and impaired range of motion problems that make it so hard to function. In some cases, you may be aware of the cause, if you’ve recently been in a car accident or suffered a sports injury. More often than not, problems can develop because of poor posture or from having to perform the same repetitive motion. In addition, if  you spend most of your day at your desk or driving and not enough time being active, the resulting muscle weakness can contribute to the problem.

What happens if you don't seek help?

Patients who seek treatment for their neck and back pain are often surprised to learn that other problems they’ve been experiencing might be related to the same issue. When you decide you can “live with”  pain and lack of mobility, other related conditions can arise. You may find that the problems you’ve been having with shoulder mobility — or  pain that travels down to your arms and hands, might actually be caused from your cervical spine issues.
